Amazing dunk shots in the pool.  These people are fearless.  Although you’d land in the water, it still is hella painful for sure.  And the height they are coming from, omigosh!  And it seems nothing to them.  Just couldn’t believe the athleticism, courage and creativity showcased in these videos.  Watch and see:

Hmmmm..  A lot of Filipinos, although happy that Venus Raj was in the top 5 of the recently concluded Ms Universe Pageant, are criticizing her for failing to come up with a great answer to the question:  “What is one big mistake you’ve made in your life and what did you do to make it right?”

A friend suggested that Venus should have just mentioned her dethroning prior to the pageant and how she overcame that.  Another suggested that Venus’ answer was on the right track but lacked confidence.  One even demonstrated how he would go about answering the question, paraphrasing Venus’ words – “In my 22 years of existence, I haven’t yet made a major mistake.  Thanks to the guidance of the Lord Almighty and the love and care from my family and friends.”  All these while tip toeing, right hand on waist and a big smile plastered on his face.

But a news network gave another perspective:

I say, congratulations Venus for bringing pride to the country right after the major, major hostage taking. =P

another funny K Brosas video

Thank you to jaeventproductions who posted this video.  Great to watch after a looong and tiring day at work.  K Brosas is so talented! See for yourself:

I love the Carpenters part, Jessa Zaragoza and Zsazsa Padilla!

A very bad thing happened in Manila, Philippines today.  A disgruntled cop who was fired from his job has taken a tourist bus hostage today.  There were at least 5 dead including the hostage taker himself.  The news was all over – local TV stations, international news networks, twitter, facebook, AM radio and I am sure in a lot more venues.  It has been sensationalized so much everyone all around the world is probably talking about it.  It has been such a big deal, it may even become the topic for the question and answer portion in Miss Universe which I heard is happening sometime this week.

It is a big deal.  Lives were put at stake.  Actually, several innocent lives have ended as a result.  My first thought when I heard of the situation was “No to guns.  No to violence.  No to weapons.”  And I still stand by it.  There should be no exceptions.  If we really want peace, then we should not encourage things that are designed for violence.  Anyway, guns and violence are points of debate for another time.

I understand how appalled everyone is of what happened.  Some are even saying they are embarrassed to be called Filipinos because of it.  Why?  Why should we be embarrassed to be called Filipinos?  Why are we so defensive about what happened?  Do we think so lowly of other nations we immediately conclude that they will generalize that all Filipinos are like that hostage taker?  Do we think so lowly of ourselves, our nation, that we immediately conclude that this ONE incident will define our country?

not in the mood for writing

There are like 17 drafts on my wordpress dashboard.  I have started so many yet cannot finish even one.  Even plinky prompts aren’t helping.  Yes there are a lot of interesting questions that I might have answered on a different time but this past few weeks have just been so draining – physically, mentally and emotionally.

I have dance rehearsals for 4-5 times a week.  We have two-hour rehearsals on weekdays and 4- 6 hours of rehearsal on weekends.  This is on top of the one hour daily commute everyday going to work which usually involves a lot of walking – from condo to train stations, from one train station to a different railway line; standing – while waiting for the next train and while inside the train; climbing the stairs; more walking – going from one meeting to another;  and pushing to get inside an already full train so that I won’t be late for work.

Work has been demanding as of late.  Revisions of standards, a lot of writing, editing and proof reading, database tune up, summarizing reports, reading, answering mails and phone queries, brain storming – all these require a functional brain which I barely have because of the late nights spent with more writing, reading, editing and summarizing.  I think I have been in front of the computer for more hours a day than what is considered healthy.  I am only away from either my laptop or PC when I am asleep.  My neurons surely are already fried!

It would have been a lot easier if the situation at work is ideal.  But ineffective planning, directives with unclear direction, goals with vague outcomes and politics all get int he way of getting things done faster and more efficiently.  The continuous cycle of writing, revision and rewriting is simply tiring not only physically and mentally but much more so emotionally.  What’s more frustrating is that because of all the mounting work brought about by scattered decision making from the bosses, I barely have time for some unwinding with friends, which I really, really need.  Ahhh, the irony!

So I am still striving to find the inspiration, energy and mental capacity to post something that’s even mildly interesting or entertaining here.  In the meantime, I could only come up with something like this. Enjoy. Not. =(
