Love lessons…

These are quotes from Adrian Tan, author of The Teenage Textbook (1988). This was his speech to the graduating class of 2008.

Rejection requires only one reason. Love requires complete acceptance.

…it is no great tragedy if your love is not reciprocated. You are not doing it to be loved back.

Finally, you will find that there is no half-measure when it comes to loving someone. You either don’t, or you do with every cell in your body, completely and utterly, without reservation or apology. It consumes you, and you are reborn, all the better for it.

Of course the speech has a lot more to it than just love.  It was delivered to a graduating class after all.  Not that there’s something wrong with a convocation address solely on love.  Anyways, the full text  is available here.  It’s FB so you have to be signed in.  And thanks to Ria for the post and Red Lebrun, too.
